Waack To The Future is an international dance festival celebrating, creativity, self empowerment & gender equality! Widely recognized as one of the most eminent dance events on the international stage, Waack To The Future is a dazzling, multicultural celebration. It’s a dance battle: A platform where some of the greatest dancers in the industry contest in an all or nothing dance showdown.

Staying true to its origins, today Waacking preserves the tenacity of 1970’s gay culture. As well as featuring a star studded cast of NY’s top choreographers and top tier dance industry judges; Waack To The Future hosts include Drag heroes such as Monet X Change and Bob The Drag Queen -- who are now stars and victor of RuPauls Drag Race.

Giving back to the community and helping others is a big part our mission. Many of the Waacking originators and pioneers did not live to see the legacy they created -- their lives were tragically claimed by HIV/AIDs. To honor their memory, and to to pledge our continued support, this year’s event will take place at the LGBTQ Center in NYC and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.

This year our riotous dance battle spectacular captures the heart of NY through the sound of Broadway. The culture of classic disco will be preserved, but we will challenge the contestants with a few of Broadway’s most beloved show tunes and find out what magic happens next. Waacking is Urban Theater! Just look at its early inspirations: actors like Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, and Marilyn Monroe. From these icons, Waacking united the elegance of disco, the opulence of Hollywood and the flamboyance of the gay community. It is a whirlwind of color, energy and talent.

THE FOUNDER

Waack To The Future was created by Princess Lockerooo -- the multi talented performer, curator, educator and activist, with a 14-year tenure in the dance and entertainment industries. Princess Lockerooo’s productions have featured across the world: including Lincoln Center, Summerstage, Women's Entrepreneurship Day, SAP Next-Gen & NYC Pride.

As a protege of Soul train legend, Tyrone Proctor, and mentee of Jody Watley, Princess Lockerooo continues to carry the torch for the global resurgence of Waacking. A waacking specialist: She has shared her unique insight in collaborations with Madonna, Icona Pop, Jody Watley & more.
